Giving Tuesday thank you

Thank you to everyone who supported Giving Tuesday on November 27th

We received about 25 pledges of support - mostly gift memberships, that's incredible! - and had a solid turnout at the "Happy Hour for the Arts" at the Fox Tucson Theatre.

Giving Tuesday is about giving back to the non-profits that make Tucson a great place to call home and to visit. We don't see Giving Tuesday as a day that's over and done, though - we see it as a kickoff to a season of giving in support of charitable organizations. That's why we are leaving up the link to make it easy for you to purchase $30, $50 and $70 gift memberships for people on your holiday shopping list. Click here to learn more about gift memberships, and here for our auction site, full of holiday gift giving ideas.

We're also encouraging you to learn more and consider supporting our Giving Tuesday arts partners. You'll see links to their websites below. We are happy they could join us for the first ever Giving Tuesday event.
We'd also like to thank the food donor for the event, our friends at Rincon Market.

KXCI Celebrates #GivingTuesday™

The national campaign #GivingTuesday™ began its life as a simple idea: We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals....Wouldn't it be great to have a day for giving back? This Tuesday, our community will have two opportunities to give back and support arts and culture non-profits in our community.

Today, from 8am to noon KXCI conducted a special 4-hour membership drive with an emphasis on new and gift memberships. Thanks for helping us raise more than $1200 for KXCI during this first ever #GivingTuesday™.

Then, from 3pm to 7pm, KXCI and the Fox Tucson Theatre will support many downtown-based arts and cultural organizations with an event best described as a "downtown happy hour for the arts."

We'll have a live remote with Cathy Rivers and Al Perry... free food... a cash bar... raffles and prizes. And a chance to meet and support a number of the arts and cultural groups that make Tucson a great place to call home.

Our list of participants continues to grow. You can come celebrate and support the arts with the Fox, KXCI, Arizona Theatre Company, the Rialto Theatre, Tucson Symphony Orchestra, 2nd Saturdays Downtown, TKMA/Tucson Folk Festival, and The Screening Room/Arizona International Film Festival, with more yet to be announced.

Stay tuned to KXCI 91.3FM for complete details on these #GivingTuesday events.

KXCI Honors Calexico With The Spirit Of Philanthropy Award

KXCI Community Radio was proud to be present Thursday at Tucson's Westin La Paloma as our friends Calexico were one of about 40 recipients of the Spirit of Philanthropy Award, presented to the people and organizations (and awesome bands!) that help drive charitable giving in our community.

Reached in Madrid, Spain, where the band is currently touring, Calexico's Joey Burns called the Spirit of Philanthropy Award "a big honor for all of us in the band." Joey's wife Nova accepted the award on behalf of the band.

Through their annual concert for KXCI, springtimes' Festival En El Barrio, Calexico and their musician friends have helped to raise about $100,000 for Community Radio.

To further the spirit of giving and great music, Calexico and KXCI also teamed up to present a Festival En El Barrio CD to each of the 625 people present at the awards luncheon, organized by the Association of Fundraising Professional's Southern Arizona chapter.
