KXCI Earth Day & Solar Panel Commissioning

Join your friends at KXCI for the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on Thursday. We'll be marking this milestone with a full day of special programming and a commissioning ceremony for our new solar panels (shown above) that were installed by Technicians for Sustainability (

From 8am to midnight, we'll have special interviews and segments with local and national environmental leaders, special guest deejays, and of course, a ton of Earth-friendly music.

From 5pm to 7pm, you are invited to join us at the station (220 South Fourth Avenue) for a commissioning ceremony for our new solar panels. We've have speakers, station tours, free gifts for the first 100 visitors, solar-powered pizza from Brooklyn Pizza, and snacks from our friends at Sunflower Farmers Market. You'll even be able to stick your head through the roof hatch for an up-close and personal look at the new solar panels.

2nd Saturdays Downtown, May 8th

Bring your friends and family downtown on Saturday, May 8th for the inaugural 2ND SATURDAYS DOWNTOWN, sponsored in part by KXCI Community Radio.

In the tradition of Tucson's historic downtown Saturday nights, this new event (to be held on the 2nd Saturday of every month!) will feature street vendors and performers, food, musicians, visual arts, “pop-up” retailers including a KXCI local music store, indoor and outdoor concerts, and discounts from downtown merchants, restaurants and clubs stretching the length of Congress and including many downtown side streets.

KXCI Community Radio: Board Election Information

The KXCI Board of Directors annual election will be held in June 2010, at which time station members will elect three of their fellow members to serve 3-year terms, and one member to serve the one year remaining on a previously elected term.

To be eligible to run, a person needs to have been a KXCI member on or before March 31, 2010 and they must complete a nomination form and return it by 5pm, April 30th. The form is available in the KXCI membership office at 220 South Fourth Avenue in Tucson, or it can be downloaded here: 2010NominatingForm.doc

On behalf of all of the staff, volunteers, members, board of directors and listeners we would like to thank everyone who made Festival en el Barrio Viejo a success. $25 Festival en el BarrioTickets Now Only Available @ Entrance at Cushing & Meyer Sat. April 3 beginning @ 11:30

$25 tickets for KXCI's annual Calexico and Friends Festival en el Barrio Viejo are available at the festival entrance on the corner of Cushing and Meyer just south of the Tucson Convention Center. Ticket sales at the Festival venue begin at 11:30am.

We look forward to seeing you at this concert to benefit KXCI. You'll enjoy two stages of live music, beer, food, vendors and more. Stop by and see us at our KXCI table to learn more about upcoming events.

**No outside food or beverage. Blankets, chairs, pets and weapons are not permitted. Children under 10 admitted free with paid adult. No re-entry. Please bring ID to redeem your tickets at festival box office. All sales are final. No refunds.**
