Tucson's Radio Celebrates Tucson's Music!

The Tucson Area Music Awards (TAMMIES) event is Thursday, September 3rd at the Rialto Theatre. This free concert event starts at 7pm, with performances by Tom Walbank, Spirit Familia, Holy Rolling Empire, Sentido, and Conner Cecil. Calexico will be honored for their induction into the TAMMIES Hall of Fame.

Create Your City Art Party!
Creative City and Parasol Project present the Create Your City Art Party on Friday, August 21, 2009 to celebrate and advocate creativity in Tucson and welcome the re-opening of the 4th Ave. Underpass. Events begin with the "Re-Connection Pre-Show” on the Winsett Park Stage at 6:30pm (free) featuring puppets, clowns, stilt-walkers and dancers. At 7:30 pm a festive parade extravaganza with performers from Winsett Park will lead people to the Rialto Theater. The Art Party at the Rialto will start at 7 pm featuring local bands: Mata Leau * Combo Westside * Michelle Blades * BATUCAXÉ * Tom Walbank & the Ambassadors * Ensphere * PLOY * Flagrante Delicto * Mr. Free & the Satellite Freakout as well as performance installations, interactive arts, vending and so much more! “Be art, bring art” is the motto. Join in this family-friendly, all ages event- bring instruments and colorful costumes.
7:00 pm – Doors open at Rialto Theatre (318 E. Congress), $10-$25 suggested donation.

Saturday
Author Michael Blake joins The John Coinman Band for a reading and concert in celebration of the American West. This is a benefit for the Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros. Michael Blake is the author of Dances with Wolves and John Coinman won Songwriter of the Year and Best Local Performing Songwriter in a citywide reader’s poll. The evening promises tales of wild horses, plaintive border ballads, haunting tales of love and High Plains Rock, all with a shot of twang.
The concert is Saturday, Aug. 22nd, 8pm at the Berger Performing Arts Canter. See Rhythm & Roots for more information.

Tucson's 4th Annual No More Homeless Animals Day helps raise awareness for pets in need. Listen to terrific local music, from Courtney Robbins, Leila Lopez, Tom Walbank, The Hounds The El Camino Royales and others, and learn how you can help save lives. The event is 21-and-over, and leashed pets are encouraged to attend. Sunday at The Hut, 305 N 4th Ave, doors at 5pm-TucsonAnimalConcert

2nd Annual Goddess Gumbo
16 female singer-songwriters from 7 generations performing to benefit New Beginnings for Women and Children. Namoli Brennet, Lisa Otey, Melanie Morrison, Nancy McCallion, Diane Van Deurzen, Sabra Faulk, Ginette Roth, Ashleigh Adelman, Tori Longale, Jenell Davis, Bunny Kirby, Wendy Adams, Tammy West, Courtney Robbins, Jo Wilkinson and Bonnie Flint. Sunday at The Boondocks Lounge, 3306 N. First Avenue, doors open at 5pm.

KXCI Community Radio: Woodstock Thank You

Thank you to everyone who made it out to our Woodstock Tribute concert Saturday night at the Rialto Theatre! We had about 600 guests for six great hours of music in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Woodstock.
