KXCI Powered Down: Friday Update

Work continues on transmitters that are co-located with KXCI on Mount Bigelow. This maintenance work requires us to power down at various times to limit the radiation exposure of workers on the transmission tower.

On Friday night at midnight, we will cut power to about 50%, a change that will last until about 5am Saturday morning. We have been informed, however, that planned Saturday power cuts are no longer needed, leaving us at full power after 5am Saturday.

Again on Saturday night at midnight, we will cut power to 50%, again until 5am on Sunday morning, with no further power reductions planned for Sunday.

No power reductions are called for on Sunday night or on Monday.

If you lose KXCI reception, know that free webstreaming of most programs is available at KXCI.org (click "Listen Live"). You can also use the SAP function on your cable television in the Tucson area to listen to KXCI; first tune to Access Tucson public access television and then utilize the SAP function. It takes a little practice!

This schedule could change based on the workers' progress or weather on the mountain; visit this blog for updated information as we receive it. And as always, thank you for your patience and understanding.
