The Sex Pistols: Two Thumbs Up

Thursday's One Cup of Java Challenge: Today’s question tackles both music and movie history. On this date in 1980, The Sex Pistols’ film The Great Rock n’ Roll Swindle was released. Written and directed by Julien Temple, the film is a rather incoherent mockumentary told from the viewpoint of the Sex Pistols’ manager with some great concert footage. The film might, we stress might, have been better if the film’s original writer hadn’t been fired. Your One Cup of Java Challenge this morning: name the original screenwriter for The Sex Pistols’ film The Great Rock n’ Roll Swindle. One clue: if you’re the first to name him, you’ll not only win today’s prize but I’ll give you a thumbs up.

Answer: Roger Ebert
