Wednesday's One Cup of Java Challenge

Wednesday's One Cup of Java Challenge: On this date in 1934, Britain became the first country to mandate a certain test that many, if not most, of us have taken in the version issued by the state in which we lived as a high schooler. I passed my test on the first try and have never taken the test again, though I use the skills needed to pass the test nearly every day. I have a college professor friend who failed the test eight times before giving up, never passing. Living in Tucson, I often wish that the test was required on an annual basis. Your One Cup of Java Challenge this morning – based on the clues provided, what kind of test was Britain the first to mandate on this date in 1934?

Answer: A driver’s test
