International Women's Day Is On
International Women’s Day (actual day March 8) was born out of the struggles for workers' rights and women's rights in the beginning of the early 1900s. It is a day to honor the past achievements of women and to renew the commitment to continue working for improved conditions for all women everywhere.
There are so many women to appreciate today who were involved in IWD programming on KXCI. Thanks to Broad Perspectives Radio producer (Sundays 5-6pm) and Music Mixer Extraordinaire (Fridays 1-3pm) Susie B. for her initiative and passion for programming by, for and about women. She'll be appearing at her regular time with a few other appearances throughtout the day.
Cactus Cathy gets things started early in the morning. DJ Shantih (regular cohost of The Chill, Fridays 6-7pm) once again steps in to host Your Morning Brew on IWD from 7-10am. Cecily (Music Mix Fridays 11am-1pm) will add to the IWD Mix. Kristi Lloyd brings it all home on The Home Stretch, 3-6pm. Ginger Doran is the special guest host of Chill tonight. You can check out the playlists at www.kxci.org.
Carol Anderson composed and recorded 10 profiles on significant women in American history. Ginger Doran provided tremendous production support. Amber, Anne Shivers and Roselady were ready to lend a hand with some voice work.
Amazing Grace will continue the International Women's Day theme during Acoustic Alternatives on Saturday, March 8 from 8-10pm. Ruby's Roadhouse will also feature women artists on Saturday from noon-2pm.
