Intercultural Journeys, an organization dedicated to promoting understanding among people of diverse cultures through dialogue and the presentation of world-class performances, in partnership with UApresents, has developed a unique concert event bridging cultures in an evening celebrating the universality of music.

Artistic Director Udi Bar-David, cellist for the Philadelphia Orchestra, leads a superb Arab-Jewish virtuoso ensemble: Hanna Khoury Arab-Israeli violinist Margo Levertt Klezmer clarinetist Kareem Roustom Syrian-born oud player Michel Mirhej Baklouk Jerusalem born, Lebanese resident on hand drums

The concert will be the culminating event for many activities that will take place in the community including Peace Walk Tucson and a “mini-conference” on Sunday, February 17 featuring a screening of the award winning Israeli-Palestinian documentary “Encounter Point” to be followed by discussion panels and workshops.

A Multi-Dimensional Program to Promote Arab-Israeli Understanding

TUCSON UApresents, the Inner Connection and Intercultural Journeys present a concert, symposium, film screening and educational program focused on opportunities for peaceful coexistence and an examination of the barriers that stand in the way.

The two-day event culminates with a multi-media concert, “In Perfect Harmony: An Evening of Arab and Jewish Music” at Centennial Hall on Feb. 17th. Artistic Director Udi Bar-David, cellist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, will lead a superb Arab-Jewish virtuoso ensemble including Hanna Khoury (Arab-Israeli violinist), Margo Leverett (Klezmer clarinetist, founding member of the Klezmatics), Kareem Roustom (Syrian-born oud master), and percussionist Rolando Morales-Matos (Philadelphia Orchestra).
