Ryan Bingham - Live@5 Friday 11/30

Tune in to The Homestretch this Friday for a Live@5 performance from Ryan Bingham and band.
Ryan's debut on Lost Highway Records, Mescalito, came out this fall and finds the 26 year old in label company with the likes of Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams and Ryan Adams. This company suites the singer and songwriter well as his whiskey and west Texas dust soaked voice leads the listener down the path of a roots rock and Americana troubadour tradition. He reminds me of Tucson's own Joe Pena, voice of Greyhound Soul, but with more of a west Texas twang. These songs create a wide vista and have a yearning that places them in the Southwest. This is where Ryan Bingham grew up, in the ranching communities of New Mexico and west Texas, and where he spent his youth on the Southwestern rodeo circuit. Now on the road for his music, Ryan Bingham is on tour with Del Castillo. They are an Austin Chicano band playing Latin rock with flamenco flourishes. Think the Gipsy Kings fronting Los Lonley Boys. Their recent release, Brotherhood, won album of the year at the Austin Music Awards.
Del Castillo and Ryan Bingham will be performing this Friday at Solar Culture, 31 E. Toole Ave. Local favorite Salvador Duran opens this all ages show.
