"Pet Rock" Dance Festival

"Pet Rock" Dance Festival
Saturday, October 27, 2007
7:00 - 11:00 p.m.
The Historic Y
300 E. University Blvd.
Tucson, AZ

Halloween is the perfect time of year to dress up and get down: put on your vintage finery and enjoy non-stop dance and music of the 50's, 60's and 70's with DJ Kidd Squidd while you benefit the Spay and Neuter Solutions of Tucson at the Pet Rock Festival, Saturday, October 27, from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. at the Grand Hall of the Historic Y at 300 E. University Blvd.

Win a prize for your best vintage efforts (i.e. gravity-defying hair; impressive sideburns, poodle skirts, bell bottoms and lovebeads) or come as you are. Enjoy signature dishes and refreshments from local restaurants, caterers, wineries and breweries; a silent auction of vintage items and art, beat poets and characters from the past. Tucson's gifted Animal Communicator, Linda Johns, will be doing readings for you and your animal friends that have passed, or you've left at home. Local musicologist DJ Kidd Squidd, a Tucson icon for over 30 years, will be spinning the platters that matter...think jitterbug, the twist, swing, and finger pointin' boogie.

The Pet Rock Festival will raise funds for Spay and Neuter Solutions, a local non-profit and all-volunteer organization, dedicated to reducing animal overpopulation and the tragic consequences. Spay and Neuter Solutions has funded over 2700 cats and dogs in Southern Arizona since its founding in the summer of 2003, greatly reducing unwanted litters and homeless animals. All profits from the festival will fund these and other worthwhile efforts to end pet overpopulation.

The Historic Y is located at 300 E. University Blvd. at the corner of 5th Avenue in the West University neighborhood, just one-half block from 4th Avenue and one-half mile from both Downtown and the U of A Main Gate Square. Free parking.

Advance tickets: $25.00 at Antigone Books, 411 N. 4th Avenue and online at Tickets are $30.00 at the door. $15.00 of each ticket is a tax-deductible donation.
