Good Morning Captain!

Wednesday's One Cup of Java Challenge: On this date in 1955, the television show “The Mickey Mouse Club” made its debut on ABC. That series actually only lasted until 1958. However, on the exact same day in 1955, the longest-running commercial television children’s series also made its debut. Your One Cup challenge this morning – name that longest-running commercial TV children’s series, which ran from 1955 to 1992.

Answer: Captain Kangaroo. "Sesame Street" has since become a longer-running children's show, albeit on public television.

Bonus Blog Trivia: The Captain's jacket - and his friend Mr. Moose - are on display at the Smithsonian.
