KXCI sponsor's this years HoCo Festival 2007
Tucson's Music and Film Exposition
Labor Day Weekend
August 30th -September 2nd

Five Days, 40 acts, a dozen films, two BBQ's and one great cause!
Including four major musical "Class Reunions" of '77, '87, '97 and '07

This Labor Day Weekend, Hotel Congress hosts one of the biggest and most important arts events of the year in Tucson. Join us Thursday, August 30th through Monday, September 3rd for the 2007 HoCo Festival, Tucson's largest music and film exposition. We will have over 40 great local and national acts throughout the weekend, performing on indoor and outdoor stages. HoCo 2007 will include four "class reunions," highlighting acts from Tucson's musical past right up to the present. The Rialto Theatre will be joining Club Congress in hosting this very special event.

Movie screenings -including two premieres - as well as live scored performances to classic silent films will make this multimedia celebration the event of the summer. As per tradition, we are partnering up with a great cause for this event.

This year's benefactor is the Tucson Artists and Musicians Health Alliance. In the past two years this festival has brought several thousand people downtown, establishing it as the largest Tucson based music event ever. The event's prestige was acknowledged by the Mayor of Tucson, Bob Walkup, and the Governor of Arizona, Janet Napolitano, who officially proclaimed Labor Day Weekend as "Club Congress Weekend". That's quite an honor for a nightclub! We have every expectation that this year will meet or exceed the overwhelming success of last - confirmed participants include over 20 celebrated national acts, along with many of the most accomplished bands and musicians to emerge from Tucson in the last 20 years. If e-mail traffic is any indication, the interest is higher than last year!

A special feature of this year's event, and one that has already garnered quite a bit of excitement, is the inclusion of the four reunion showcases. These are favorites from Tucson's past: acts from 30 years ago, 20 years ago, 10 years ago and the best of the current crop will be represented on four stages as "Class of '77", "Class of '87", "Class of '97" and "Class of '07."

This year also inaugurates the partnership with TAMHA (Tucson Artists & Musicians Health Alliance), a new and important organization dedicated to providing effective, low cost, local healthcare system for artists and musicians in our area. The association is a natural for HoCo and one we are proud to support. This will be a major theme throughout the event this year and we welcome any support you may care to offer.
Furthermore, our event has been tabbed as the official closing party for Tucson's 232nd birthday celebration. With this addition, the multi stage live performances, hosted BBQ parties, the film showcases, and all the community and press support; we can confidently say that the newly rechristened HoCo Festival 2007 will be one of the biggest community events of the year.
