Deja Vu All Over Again / One Cup Of Java Challenge

Wednesday's One Cup Of Java Challenge, heard on Your Morning Brew at 8:20am:
A little music history for today’s One Cup. On this date in 1970, the song “Teach The Children” was released. It would eventually hit #16 on the charts and become the biggest hit off Crosby, Stills, and Nash’s second album Déjà Vu. That was also their first album with Neil Young – although Neil doesn’t sing or play on “Teach The Children.” Another famous musician does, though. Your One Cup question this morning – on the song “Teach The Children,” what California band leader played pedal steel guitar for free – in return for Crosby, Stills and Nash teaching his band how to sing better harmonies?

One Cup Answer: Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead

Bonus Blog Trivia: Garcia put what he learned to use on the Dead's subsequent acoustic albums Workingman's Dead and American Beauty. Catch some Dead this Friday and every Friday night on KXCI's Dead Air program.
