Rat Packs And Brat Packs / One Cup Of Java Challenge

In preparation for our 80s music celebration today on the Music Mix (9am-3pm) our One Cup of Java Challenge this morning asks you to name the actress who was in both The Facts of Life on TV AND one of the classic movies of the 80s, The Breakfast Club. Again, your task – name the actress who in both The Facts of Life and The Breakfast Club, and, seemingly, in just about every other movie on the 1980s.

Your One Cup Answer: Molly Ringwald

Bonus Blog Trivia: Molly was one of the 8 core members of Hollywood's "Brat Pack" of the 80s, along with Judd Nelson, Andrew McCarthy, Rob Lowe, Anthony Michael Hall, Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy and Emilio Estevez. The name was a spin off from Frank Sinatra's circle of friends in the 1960s The Rat Pack - which itself was taken from Humphrey Bogart's 1950s entourage The Rat Pack.

Bonus Blog Trivia #2: While it's not known that the Brat Pack did much to advance society, Sinatra's Rat Pack rightfully deserves credit for helping to break down racial discrimination in Las Vegas clubs. Rat Packers like Sinatra, Dean Martin and Joey Bishop stuck together, refusing to play any couple that wouldn't allow their buddy Sammy Davis Jr. on the stage as well.
