Jazz Under The Stars: Chuchito Valdes


The Tucson Jazz Society announces Jazz Under the Stars with Afro-Cuban jazz by Chuchito Valdes, son of the great Cuban pianist Chucho Valdes

WHEN: Sun., April 22 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: St. Philip's Plaza, Campbell Ave. and River Rd.
COST: $20 general public; $15 TJS members; $10 students.
Warm-up performances by the JazzWerx student band.

Raised in Havana, Cuba, Jesus "Chuchito" Valdes follows his father's footsteps
as a master pianist, and he travels the world bringing audiences his own
flavor of energetic Caribbean rhythms and jazz. His music draws on many
styles, including Latin jazz, bebop, danzon, timba and even the harmony of
classical music he studied extensively in his youth. The concert is part of the spring Jazz Under the Stars series running through May 6. The series is sponsored by the Glassman Foundation and JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa.
