Fishtank Ensemble - Feb 8th @ Solar Culture

Fishtank Ensemble is group of talented musicians who are masters in violin, saw, accordion, shamisen, flamenco guitar, contrabass, percussion and voice. They play an eclectic mix of flamenco, Swedish folk music, klezmer, Gypsy jazz, other folk sources as well as original songs.

The group formed in the spring of 2005 around gifted fiddler Fabrice Martinez, originally from France. He spent seven years traveling around Europe in a mule-drawn caravan learning and playing folk music with "Croque Mule." Much of that time was spent living in Romania, often in Gypsy villages. The members of the Fishtank Ensemble met at a workshop in Oakland, California and 3 weeks later recorded their debut album Super Raoul. “Raoul” is a gypsy slang term for “cool.” You can check out their music on their myspace page at: www.myspace.com/fishtankensemble

The Fishtank Ensemble will play an all-ages show at Solar Culture on Thursday, February 8th at 9PM. For more information you can visit the Solar Culture website at: www.solarculture.org If you enjoy the local band Molehill Orchestra (playing at Plush this Friday, by the way), you will love the Fishtank Ensemble.
