Hot Spot Jose Gonzalez Monday

This week’s Hot Spot is a KXCI sponsored show with Jose Gonzalez.

A rising star in the international music scene, this Swedish native of Argentinian heritage, will be touring through Tucson Monday night at Plush. A singer songwriter often compared to the likes of Nick Drake, Tim Buckley, and Will Oldham, Jose Gonzalez is a breath of fresh air in the many times stale world of popular music. Although he has matched critical acclaim with commercial success, Jose Gonzalez does not yet seem to be affected by popular trends and trappings. Armed with just a classical guitar and his voice, his unique and intimate music is stark yet full. It possesses that intangible special something that stirs ones soul. He is prominently featured on the new Zero 7 release and his stateside debut, Veneer on Mute records, has made many fans with KXCI listeners and DJ's alike.

***Jose Gonzalez stops by for a Live@5 performance Monday on the Homestretch.

-The Deludes, Solace Bros. and Al Perry and the Cattle combine forces at Plush for unveiling of new local magazine Soda Pop.

-Magnolia Electric Co. bring their underground classic rock to Club Congress with Golden Boots and the smoke and jazz voice of opener Lonna Kelley and the Broken Hearted Lovers.
-Califone at Plush. Think Jon Spencer meets John Cage mixed with Calexico.
