Tucson's 231st Birthday Celebration

As you may have heard, Tucson has been honoring its 231st Birthday with a variety of celebrations all over town - for the entire month of August! The reports from organizers Linda Ray and Cele Peterson are that the various celebrations have been very well attended and successful. Pima Air & Space Museum hosted a free day last weekend and over 1000 Tucsonans arrived. The presidio walking tours had been expecting around 20 participants - and over 60 showed up!

On Sunday, KXCI Community Radio was represented at Tucson's Birthday Taredeada - held at El Casino Ballroom. The event was sponsored by Los Desendientes del Presidio de Tucson and featured excellent musical performances from several young mariachi groups and great food!

The celebration is continuing through this weekend. CLICK HERE to see the upcoming events.
