General Manager Search Update

At their meeting last night (8/3/06) the KXCI Board of Directors voted to reopen the search process to hire the station's next General Manager. No timeline for the search was set.

KXCI Membership and Community Outreach Director Randy Peterson will continue in the role of acting general manager during the second search. Peterson, one of two finalists to be interviewed for the permanent position, has announced that he will not be a candidate in the second search process.

Randy Peterson should be applauded for his commitment and dedication to KXCI. Whether you agree or disagree with his vision for the station, at least he is willing to put himself out there. Most of the world, country, Tucson couldn't care less about community radio and what it means. The staff and volunteers at KXCI are a very special group and I was thoroughly impressed by their passion for what they are doing. Reopening the GM search process can only help the station in the long run which is exactly where everyone's focus should be.

Good luck!

KXCI also has a passionate group of active members. Their (our) focus is and has always been on keeping KXCI a real community radio station.

It takes all three parts to make it happen. Management, volunteers and members.
